遊…… 遊
우리는 현실에서 부딪히는 여러 가지 문제들로 불안감이나 갑갑함을 느낄 때, 숲이나 산책로를 걸으면서 마음의 안정을 찾고 새로운 세계를 열어갈 힘을 얻곤 한다. 자연으로부터의 치유일 것이다. 나는 자연 안에서 자유로워지는 순간을 느끼며 장자(壯子)의 소요유(逍遙遊)를 떠올린다.
소요유의 세계는 ‘정신적 절대 자유의 경지’를 상징하는 하나의 이상향이다. 또한 이러한 경지에서 유(遊)의 개념은 유희(遊戱)의 의미를 내포하고 있다. 유(遊)자는 깃발에 늘어뜨린 끈처럼 생긴 술은 바람에 따라 나부끼면서 얽매이는 바가 없어 자유롭다는 것을 의미한다. 바로 유희의 면모와 성격을 말해준다.
숲길을 거닐 때, 자연은 ‘소요유_유희’의 의미를 돌이키지 않아도 자유로운 정신의 경계와 심미의 경계를 곧 하나로 맞닿게 하며 그 안에서 ‘깊은 아름다움’을 발견하게 하는 듯 하다. 날마다 새롭게 ‘깊은 아름다움’을 발견하며 살아갈 수 있기를 바란다.

Peripatetic pleasure
When we feel uneasy and distressed about various problems facing us in our daily lives, we often stroll a promenade and become relieved and get encouraged to make our way through a new world. I’d like to call it ‘healing by Mother Nature’. I recognize the moment when I get free in nature, which reminds me of ‘Going a ramble without a destination(逍遙遊)’, one of the philosophical works created by an ancient Chinese philosopher, Chuang tzu(壯子).
The world in ‘Going a ramble without a destination(逍遙遊)’ is an ideal world symbolizing a state of perfect spiritual freedom. In that world, the concept of ‘Going a ramble(遊)’ connotes the concept of ‘Feeling free(遊戱)’. The Chinese character, Yu(遊) means a state of being unfettered and free like flag fringes which are fluttering in the wind. That is the aspect of ‘Feeling free(遊戱)’.
When I stroll through the woods, natural beauty seems to make me identify spiritual freedom with
profound beauty without reminding me of the concept of ‘Going a ramble without a destination(逍遙遊)’ and further make me find profound beauty. I wish I could keep newly finding profound beauty in my everyday life.
